Why choose integrated psychotherapy?

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

The synthetic approach to the treatment of psychological difficulties is the synthesis of the most effective therapeutic approaches in the science of psychology and psychotherapy.

Simply put, the synthetic psychologist chooses the psychotherapeutic approach that he believes will help the patient more effectively at the moment and given the appropriate conditions.

This synthetic training gives the psychologist the advantage of using each therapeutic approach critically, in accordance with the given difficulty of the patient. Thus, the mental health professional uses the appropriate tool for the corresponding discomfort feeling, free from therapeutic dogmas and prejudices.

For example, a panic attack can initially be treated with cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is quite effective in quickly restoring a person's functionality. However, as many problems are rooted in the conscious part of the patient's awareness, approaches such as psychodynamic therapy, as well as psychoanalysis, will help further rebuild the unconscious memory impulses. These psychological analyzes will establish a deeper and more permanent positive change in the patient. Sometimes, systemic and phenomenological techniques will be chosen to improve human interactions and patient self-acceptance.

Beyond and above the techniques that the synthetic psychologist will follow, the therapeutic relationship, the trust, the unconditional acceptance and the security that will be created between the psychologist and the patient will give the power to improve the respective difficulties.

Finally, it should be emphasized that the synthetic psychotherapist is trained systematically and under intensive supervision c for at least 4 years. Writes Mr. Ioannis Stamatelos psychologist (MSc)
